The writer for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has shared some of the plot details online, and it sounds wild.
Andrew Garfield’s run as the spectacular Spider-Man ended abruptly with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a flop of a film that was criticised for having too many villains, and a lacklustre story.
Speaking of Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out tomorrow, check it out below!
Future Sony Spider-Man projects were then cancelled, leading to Disney’s version of the wall-crawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a surprising turn of events though, Andrew Garfield, alongside Tobey Maguire, got to put on the skintight Spidey suits once again for the multiversal adventure in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Fans praised Garfield’s return, leading to calls to give him a third Spider-Man film and round-off the trilogy. Unlikely, but we can dream.
Now though, details on what The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could have been about have leaked online, and the brief snippets shared sound absolutely bonkers.
In a new book called MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, there’s a page about Andrew Garfield’s third film, stating that an in-progress script was cobbled together, and would see Spider-Man face off against The Sinister Six.
An excerpt from the book reads: “The goal was to have all of these villains team up for a Sinister Six film. The studio even had screenwriter Drew Goddard work up a draft. By the end of 2014, [Drew Goddard] had a draft that took Spider-Man and his villains to the Savage Land…Where Spider-Man would ride a T-Rex.”
It’s said Spider-Man would have travelled to other parts of the world outside New York, and there’d even be brief time-travel elements, which explains why he’d be riding a T-Rex.
The Sinister Six line-up would have consisted of Vulture, Sandman, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Black Cat, and potentially Spidey himself following his grief and rage after the death of Gwen Stacey.
Honestly it sounds kind of weird, and likely would have caused even more upset following the negative reception to the first two Amazing Spider-Man films, though it’d still be nice to see Garfield get his third film at some point in the future.

Over 30,000 Spider-Man fans are hoping for a miracle, and have signed a petition for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
It’s been 9 years since the planned Amazing Spider-Man trilogy abruptly ended following a disappointing second film. However, many fans haven’t quite let go of what could have been, and are still campaigning to get Andrew Garfield his third film.
Check out the latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below!
A petition was launched titled “Make ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3’ starring Andrew Garfield”, which is currently sitting at just under 33,000 signatures.
The catalyst for the campaign came from Garfield’s reprisal of the character in the MCU Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought together three Spider-Man from three different film franchises, Tobey Maguire from the original trilogy of films, Andrew Garfield from the reboot series, and current Spider-Man Tom Holland, who’s the only one planned for a fourth film.
During the events of the film, we all collectively shed a tear when Andrew’s version of Peter Parker recounted the loss of his beloved Gwen Stacey, who he failed to save from a fatal fall during the final battle of Amazing Spider-Man 2. Apparently he never truly got over the loss, and took his anger and frustration out on his rogues gallery. During the climax of No Way Home, Tom Holland’s MJ falls off the Statue of Liberty, only for Garfield’s web slinger to save the day at the last minute, leading to a heroic and emotional redemption moment that fans adored.
Since then, fans have been practically begging Sony to bring back the Amazing Spider-Man series, leading to the petition, which states it’s about “a Spider-Man that deserves something. Something that Tobey and Tom respectfully had. A third try.”
A truly heart-warming sentiment, and while it’s unlikely The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will ever enter production, there are rumours that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man will return in some capacity, potentially in some of Sony’s upcoming villain/anti-hero films like Venom 3 or Kraven The Hunter.
